Web Drama Series Pilot Program

The intent of the Fund is to assist independent producers/creators to finance the production of original drama series created initially for the web. Nova Scotia applicants should review the following criteria prior to consulting the Web Drama Series Pilot Program Guidelines.

Who is eligible to apply for the Program?

The applicant must be the producer of the project. The applicant (and those holding key creative positions) must be Nova Scotia residents. A “Nova Scotia resident” is someone who has maintained a principal residence in Nova Scotia for at least twelve (12) consecutive months immediately prior to the date of application.

What projects are eligible?

Projects must have a budget with 75% of the total expenditures of the project spent in Nova Scotia.

Who owns the project?

The producer must own all rights to the project and provide chain of title documentation.

What commitment is required from the producer?

The producer must enter into an equity investment contract with the Independent Production Fund and Film Nova Scotia. The equity contract will detail the terms and conditions of the investment and specify the disbursements, schedule for funds, recoupment schedules, profit participation and reporting requirements.

What other requirements are there?

Successful applicants must have an incorporated company under which to produce the project prior to entering into the equity investment contract. This company must be majority owned by Nova Scotia residents.

How are projects selected?

The Board of Directors of the IPF and Film Nova Scotia will approve the eligible Nova Scotia Production Proposals and successful applicants will be notified by mid-June, 2010.
