Film Nova Scotia

Created in 1990 under the Film Development Corporation Act, Film Nova Scotia is a Provincial Crown Corporation reporting to the Minister of Economic and Rural Development. A Board of Directors, appointed by the Governor in Council, directs the Corporation's activities.

The primary mandate of Film Nova Scotia is to:

Grow Nova Scotia's film, television, and new media industry with our partners by stimulating investment and employment and by promoting Nova Scotia's producers, productions, locations, skills and creativity in global markets.

The core business activities of Film Nova Scotia include:

Program Administration

Film Nova Scotia administers programs in the areas of investment, export and market, and training designed to support the growth and development of Nova Scotia's film & television industry.

Locations & Marketing

Film Nova Scotia promotes the province as a film location in the global marketplace and provides initial production support to producers who are guests in the province. It also fulfills a community liaison role for the industry and general public and coordinates the communication activities of Film Nova Scotia.

Tax Credit

Film Nova Scotia administers the Nova Scotia Film Industry Tax Credit on behalf of the provincial Department of Finance.
